We must not think ourselves incapable. Because lust has been defeating us for so long, defeat has become our nature. We are the Lord’s people; we have the Lord’s name. Lust resides in the ego. The conscience has four parts – mind, intellect, consciousness and ego. I am a man, I am a woman, I am the enjoyer or I am the doer, this is the ground of the ego, it rests on this. The ego cannot live anywhere permanently. The words of the Lord are:
Matrasparshastu kaunteya shitoshnasukhdukhdah.
Agamapayino’ nityastastitiksva bharat.
The temporary appearance of happiness and sorrow and their disappearance with time is like the appearance and disappearance of the seasons winter and summer. They arise from the sense perception, and man should learn to bear them without being disturbed.
Bhagavad Gita, 2.14
Lust keeps coming and going. Ego is its abode. We have to close the door of its house. If you believe in some strength in yourself (Ego), it will keep defeating you. The day you become weak and surrender your ego in God’s refuge, no one can defeat you. This shelter will come only when you chant the holy name.
Learn To Tolerate Lust, Not Defeat It
We are weak right now. When lust comes, we use all our strength to defeat it. Then we say that lust came and made us do wrong. What should we do now? We have to first learn to tolerate it, not defeat it.
Yam hi na vyathyantayete purusham purusharshab.
Samaduhkhasukham dheere so’mritatvaya kalpate.
A person who is not disturbed by happiness and sorrow and remains stable in both, is definitely entitled to salvation.
Bhagwad Gita, 2.15
Whenever lust troubles you, chant Radha-Radha. It will teach you to tolerate lust. Lust will tell you to go there, see that movie or video, meet that person, and eat that; you just have to ignore everything it says. It will not be able to harm you. The only problem is that we do not consider lust as our enemy; instead, we love it. Whatever it says, we do. How will we be able to conquer it like this? To conquer it, first, you accept that it is our enemy. It has been trying hard to keep us away from God since many births. We have to fight it; we have the power of God’s holy name.
The Only Way To Conquer Lust – Chanting The Holy Name
The one who has boarded the ship of God’s name has crossed the ocean of existence. The crocodile of lust can defeat a swimmer but not a person sitting on a ship. Ajamil performed all the wrong deeds throughout his life, but in the last moments of his life, when he uttered the name of his child, Narayan, the Lord’s companions came to take him and blessed him. Chant the holy name. The battle with lust is not small. It is powerful by the power of God.
You will have to fall as long as there is even a little ego. Lust will be conquered only when we accept that we have lost. But we are deceitful; we say we have lost but do not lose from within. God sees only what is inside us. When we lose from within, the lord and Guru hold our hand; after that, no one can defeat us.
Do Not Accept Defeat – Everyone Is Suffering From Lust For A Long Time!
It is not that it is tormenting you only. Even great saints have had to cry for relief from it. Everyone has had to pray to God – Lord! Save me. By taking the name of the Lord, you get the strength of the Lord, and gradually, you reach such a height that lust cannot touch you. Do not panic. We start crying and wailing; this is the biggest loss. We should not consider ourselves so weak in front of the enemy; we are the children of God. Lust, empowered by the power of God, is hoisting its flag in the whole world, and we cry despite being children of God.
We have not considered God our own, which is why this happens. The day you become your Guru’s and God’s, you will have the strength to fight everyone. Even if we fall a hundred times, we will still climb it. Lust is repeatedly destroying us, so from today we take a vow that we are the children of the immortal, we ourselves are immortal, we will tolerate it. One day, you will win.
What happens is that our self-confidence has weakened by indulging in sensual pleasures. We think that how can we defeat lust, this is not in our power, only saints can do this. Do saints and sages descend from the sky? They understood the matter by the grace of the Guru and tolerated lust throughout their life. Then, we do not call such people saints; they become the embodiment of God Himself. This is not a path to be nervous, afraid or sad. Fall a hundred times, do not look back, and keep the next step forward. Chant the name; the mind will come under your control. When you step towards God, you will get the blessings of the saints without asking. If they do not bless us, we cannot become free from Illusion on our own.
