How to Attain God? When will I Attain God?

When is known only to Hari (God) because he has to be attained, but how it will happen, we know by the grace of Guru Pratap.

“Ek bharoso, Ek bal, Ek aas, Biswas,

One who has only one trust, hope, and desire to meet only God, one yearning, when will I perceive Him with full eyes (Bhar Netra). I have faith in him; I will meet him like Chatak waits for a drop of Swati (The thirsty bird eagerly awaits the drop of rain from Swati (a Nakshatra or star associated with rain)). One who waits for God all the time while chanting Bhajans attains God.

He is crying again and again in distress. “O’ Lord (Nath), I have no means; may I attain you through your grace. I am sinful; how can I please you?

ananya-cetāḥ satataṁ
yo māṁ smarati nityaśaḥ
tasyāhaṁ su-labhaḥ pārtha
nitya-yuktasya yoginaḥ

O Arjun, I become easily attainable to him, who continuously does my Bhajan (worships me)

The Key to Attaining God

Bhajan ( chanting) involves no money and needs no support from anyone. Radha Radha Krishna Krishna. God will be found. Who wants to meet God now? Look from within, there are so many other desires. When we wish to meet God, nothing will seem good.

We don’t have control; we want to hold on to the sky; how will we be able to hold on to it? Our only option is to cry, just as a small child, when he desires something, cries in front of his mother. The mother makes an effort to stop him from crying.

Similarly, when our Lord sees us crying to meet Him, Krishna, being so compassionate, makes us experience Him. If He wishes, He may give visible darshan, He may give darshan in the heart. This desire arises only when there is no other desire left. If there are other desires, then along with them, there is no desire to meet God. Understand that this is one such desire which, when it arises, no other desire is left.

Look, I am explaining to you in a very simple way. If a boy and a girl become attached, which is called love, then both of them, if they are genuinely attached, would like to die; they would not like to get separated. If they feel that they would get separated, they both leave their bodies. The unreal body, they do not know each other’s true forms. Loving the unreal body, life becomes as light as a straw for them. What to speak of loving Sachchidananda (ever blissful) then?

Just see what our condition is. Convenience, that enjoyment, this desire, that desire means something is wrong. One who loves with even worldly love leaves his mother, who brought him up for 20 years, and all the wealth; he leaves everything like a straw: mother, brother, family, property, relationship, position, prestige, fame, and runs away. We love God but want to keep everything: our family and property. Now there is something wrong in our love, there is no right connection.

How can God be Attained?

Let’s look at worldly love. Which caste does one belong to? What belongs to the family, what is there, what is not, whether there is something or not, there is no meaning, whether it will kill us or keep us alive, it doesn’t mean anything. There is a complete surrender. How much do we surrender ourselves to God? Look, honestly, if we face a little adversity or sadness, we start doubting whether God exists or not, whether he loves us or not, we don’t know whether our spiritual practice (bhajan) is correct or not, we get so many doubts. But the boy and girl leave everything & go. Many times, I feel, as a matter of contemplation, that if the same love is for God, then God will be attained. 

God is found through love. How is that love manifested? It is manifested through bhajan (chanting and spiritual practice). To do bhajan, there is no need for anyone’s help, neither of money nor any person. Yes, you need your support. Radha, Radha, you have to say yourself. Radha, Radha, Krishna Krishna, Ram, Hari, chant the name Shri Gurudev gave. Chant the name a lot, and you will surely attain God.
