The Gopis, overwhelmed by the pain of separation, sing in deep longing— “O Beloved! Because of Your divine birth, the glory of Vrindavan has surpassed even that of Vaikuntha and other heavenly realms. That is why Goddess Lakshmi, the deity of beauty, has left her abode in Vaikuntha and now resides here eternally, serving this sacred land. But, O Dear One! Look at Your Gopis, who have surrendered their very lives at Your lotus feet. They are wandering from forest to forest, searching for You in despair.”

O Master of our loving hearts! We are Your humble servants. With Your enchanting eyes, which steal the beauty of the finest lotus blooming in the autumnal lake, You have wounded us deeply. O Beloved Lord, the fulfiller of our desires! Is it not also a kind of slaying to strike with the eyes? Or is killing only considered murder when done with weapons?”

O Supreme among men! You have repeatedly protected us from all kinds of dangers—whether it was the deadly waters of the Yamuna, the serpent Aghasura who sought to devour us, Indra’s torrential rains, storms, lightning, forest fires, or the threats of Vatsasura, Vyomasura, and other demons at different times.

You are not just the son of Yashoda; You are the indwelling witness residing in the hearts of all living beings, the all-knowing Antaryami (Inner Controller). O dear friend! At the request of Lord Brahma, You have descended in the Yadu dynasty to protect the entire universe.

O foremost among the Yadavas, the best among those who fulfill the desires of their devotees! Those who fear the endless cycle of birth and death take refuge at Your lotus feet, and Your divine hands shelter them, granting them fearlessness. O our beloved Lord! The very same lotus hand with which You accepted the hand of Goddess Lakshmi—place it upon our heads and fulfill our longing desires.

O Shyamsundar, the greatest of heroes, who removes the sorrows of the residents of Vraja! Just a single radiant glimpse of Your gentle smile is enough to shatter all the pride and arrogance of Your loving devotees. O our dearest friend! Do not be upset with us—shower us with Your love. We are merely Your humble servants, completely surrendered at Your lotus feet. O Beloved, please reveal to us Your supremely beautiful, dark-complexioned lotus face.

Your lotus feet destroy all the sins of those who take refuge in You. They are the very abode of beauty and sweetness, and even Goddess Lakshmi eternally serves them. With those same divine feet, You walk behind our calves, and for our sake, You did not hesitate to place them even upon the hoods of the serpent Kaliya. O Beloved! Our hearts are burning in the fire of separation from You, and the longing for Your presence torments us. Please place those very lotus feet upon our hearts and soothe the flames of our suffering.

O Lotus-eyed One! How sweet is Your speech! Every syllable, every word, and every phrase of Your words is supremely sweet—sweeter than the sweetest nectar. Even the greatest scholars become immersed in its divine charm and surrender themselves completely to it. O Lord! Delighted by the taste of Your divine words, we Gopis, Your humble and obedient servants, have become utterly enchanted. O most generous One! Now, grant us the nectar of Your divine lips, which is sweeter than nectar itself. Let us drink it fully and be revived by it.

O Lord! Your divine pastimes are like nectar. For those tormented by separation, they are the very essence of life. Great sages, enlightened souls, and devotee poets have sung the glories of these divine stories. They not only remove all sins and suffering but also bestow supreme auspiciousness and ultimate well-being upon those who simply listen to them. Your pastimes are supremely beautiful, incredibly sweet, and vast beyond measure. Truly, those who sing and share Your divine stories are the greatest benefactors on this earth.

O Beloved! There was a time when merely remembering Your loving smile, enchanting glances, and playful pastimes would fill our hearts with immense joy. Even the thought of them was supremely auspicious. Then, You met us, and in solitude, You whispered sweet words of love, playfully teasing us in ways that touched our very souls. But now, O our deceptive Friend! Those very memories return and torment our hearts.

O our beloved Lord! Your lotus feet are softer and more beautiful than the most delicate petals. When You leave Vrindavan to graze the cows, the very thought that Your tender feet might be pricked by pebbles, thorns, and sharp blades of grass fills our hearts with deep distress and restlessness. This pain troubles us greatly, and we feel immense sorrow thinking of Your suffering.

When the day fades and You return home from the forest, we see Your lotus-like face adorned with soft, dark curls falling gently over it, and covered in the fine dust stirred by the hooves of the cows. O our valiant Beloved! By revealing this enchanting beauty to us, You awaken in our hearts an intense longing and deeper love for You.

O Beloved! You alone are the remover of all our sorrows. Your lotus feet fulfill the desires of all surrendered devotees. Even Goddess Lakshmi eternally serves them, and they are the very ornament of the earth. In times of distress, meditating upon them alone is the true refuge, for they dissolve all suffering. O Kunja Bihari! Please place those supremely auspicious lotus feet upon our hearts and soothe the agony within us.

O Supreme among warriors! The nectar of Your lips only deepens our longing for You. It destroys all sorrows and sufferings born of separation. That ever-singing flute is fortunate, for it continuously kisses Your lips. Those who have tasted this nectar even once forget all worldly attachments and desires. O our valiant Beloved! Please grant us that same divine nectar of Your lips—let us drink it and be fulfilled.

O Beloved! When You leave for the forest during the day, every single moment without You feels like an entire age to us. And when You return in the evening, with Your divine, enchanting face adorned with curly locks, we gaze upon You with immense joy. At that moment, even the blinking of our eyelids feels like an unbearable burden, and we think that the creator of these eyelids must be a fool!

O dear Shyamsundar! We have abandoned our husbands, sons, brothers, families, and disregarded their wishes and commands just to come to You. We understand each of Your gestures, every hidden sign, and the rhythm of Your enchanting songs—mesmerized by them, we have been drawn to You. O Deceiver! Tell us, who else but You would forsake young women who have come to You in the dead of night, surrendering everything?

O Beloved! In solitude, You would speak words that awakened our longing for union and kindled the fire of love within us. You playfully teased us, casting affectionate glances upon us with a gentle smile. We beheld Your broad and majestic chest—the eternal abode of Goddess Lakshmi. Since then, our yearning for You has only deepened, and our hearts have become ever more enchanted by Your divine presence.

O Beloved! Your divine manifestation exists to dispel all sorrows and afflictions of the dwellers of Vraj and to bring ultimate welfare to the entire world. Our hearts are overflowing with longing for You. Grant us even a small remedy—one that can completely cure the deep affliction of Your devoted souls.

Your lotus feet are softer than the softest. Even when we place them upon our chests, we do so with utmost care and hesitation, fearing they might get hurt. And yet, in the dead of night, You wander through the dense forests, hidden amidst the wilderness. Do Your tender feet not suffer pain from the sharp stones and thorns along the way? The mere thought of it makes us dizzy—we are losing consciousness! O Lord of Our Lives! Our very existence is for You, we live only for You, and we belong solely to You.

Shri Shukadev Ji said— O Parikshit! Immersed in the deep agony of separation, the beloved Gopis began to sing and lament in various ways. Overwhelmed by the longing for a glimpse of their dear Krishna, they could no longer restrain themselves. With a heart-wrenching, melodious voice, they burst into tears, crying profusely.

At that very moment, amidst the grieving Gopis, Lord Shri Krishna appeared. His lotus-like face was adorned with a gentle, enchanting smile. He wore a garland of forest flowers around His neck and was draped in a radiant yellow garment (Pitambar). His divine form was so mesmerizing that it could captivate even the mind of Kamadeva, the god of love, who himself bewilders the hearts of all beings.
