Once, Sage Narad was going to Dwarka from Indra’s place. Narad brought a flower of the Parijat tree from Indra’s place. He offered that flower to Lord Krishna, who gave that beautiful flower to Rukmani. Narad always does the work that is in God’s mind. He does acts that reveal the glories of the lord’s name and glory.
Narad Created Jealousy In Satyabhama’s Heart
After offering flowers to Krishna, Narad went to Satyabhama’s palace. Narad asked Satyabhama whether she got the Parijat flower from heaven. Satyabhama had no information about this matter. Narad told her, I considered you to be the most beloved of lord Krishna, so I thought that the Lord must have given that flower to you. On enquiring from the maids, it was found that the Lord had given that flower to Rukmani. Narad said that it means that Krishna loves Rukmani more. On hearing this, Satyabhama got upset.
Narad again went to Krishna and said, Satyabhama is upset with you because you gave that flower to Rukmani. Krishna asked how Satyabhama had come to know about this. Narad said, I had gone to her, and this thing came out in our conversation. Krishna looked at Narad and smiled. Narad always does some or other pastimes like this.
When the Lord came near Satyabhama, she said the flower should not have gone to Rukmani. Krishna persuaded Satyabhama and said, don’t worry, I love you more. I have given only the flower to Rukmini; for you, I will bring that Parijat tree and plant it in your courtyard. Satyabhama became happy to hear this.
Satyabhama Ordered To Kill Bhaumasur (Narakasur)
When the atrocities of Bhaumasur, the son of the earth, increased, Indra took refuge in lord Krishna and prayed to Him to save the demigods. Satyabhama is the incarnation of the Earth Goddess. Bhaumasur (Narakasur) was the son of the Earth Goddess. Earth Goddess had asked God for a boon that He would never kill her son without her permission. Therefore, Bhaumasur could not be killed without Satyabhama’s permission. Because of this boon, Bhaumasur became a tyrant, and no one could kill him. When Krishna went out to fight Bhaumasur, he told Satyabhama that the terror of Bhaumasur had increased a lot, so she should also come with Him. Bhaumasur showered weapons on the Lord in front of Satyabhama. Satyabhama, in the love of Krishna, forgot that Bhaumasur had appeared from a part of the earth. She requested Krishna to kill him quickly. The Lord was waiting only to fulfil Satyabhama’s wish, and as soon as she said this, the Lord killed Bhaumasur.
The Lord Planted The Parijat Tree In Satyabhama’s Courtyard
After killing Bhaumasur, Indra praised the Lord along with other gods. The Lord asked Indra to give the Parijat tree because Satyabhama wanted to plant it in her courtyard. Indra’s wife refused to give the Parijat tree and said it was unsuitable for the mortal world. Indra reminded his wife that He was the all-powerful Lord who had just killed Bhaumasur, which the demigods could not kill. But his wife was adamant. Some demigods also came in her favour and started opposing the Lord. They were ready to fight with the Lord and also said some harsh words to the Lord. They said that the tree of the heavens would not go to the mortal world.
The Lord said do you think my city, Dwarka, is part of the mortal world? Till now, you all were suffering from the fear of Bhaumasur. If Bhaumasur wasn’t killed, then even heaven would not have been in your hands. And you are not giving even one tree to Me. Krishna ordered Garuda to uproot the Parijat tree. Garuda uprooted the tree easily with his beak and kept it on his back. The Lord asked Garuda to show a little pastime to the egoistic demigods. Garuda attacked with only one wing, and thousands of demigods fell unconscious. Indra bowed to the Lord and said, please forgive us for our mistake. Krishna, Satyabhama, and the Parijat tree all returned seated on Garuda. The Parijat tree was planted in Satyabhama’s palace. Now Satyabhama was very happy.
Satyabhama Gave Away Krishna As A Donation
After some time, Narada reached Satyabhama’s palace. Satyabhama said to Narada that Shri Krishna loves me a lot because of your grace. Lord Krishna gave only one flower of Parijat tree to Rukmini, and look, this tree is in my courtyard. Narada saw that Satyabhama had become arrogant about the grandeur of her palace. Satyabhama’s father received the Syamantaka jewel from Lord Sun. That jewel produced eight parts of gold daily. Now, the Parijat tree also came to her. God likes humility, not pride. Narada told Satyabhama that Krishna loves you a lot. Satyabhama said it is because of your grace. Narada, can you tell me a way that Krishna loves me the most and never goes away from me, even for a moment? Narad said that if any beloved thing is donated, then it is attained for a long time.
Satyabhama agreed to donate Krishna. Brahmins were called, and Satyabhama was made to pledge to donate Krishna to Narad. When Lord Krishna came, Narad asked Him to come with him. Lord asked, why? Narad told Him that Satyabhama had donated you to me. Satyabhama folded her hands to Narad and said you were saying Krishna will never go away from me, even for a moment. I have donated Him as you said, but you are taking the lord away. Narad told her the entire knowledge of scriptures that from your next birth, the lord will be yours, forever.
Satyabhama’s Pride Of Wealth Broke
Satyabhama said, I can give whatever you say in return, but I cannot leave Krishna even for a moment. Narad said that if you want to get back the thing you donated, give me something equal to it. He asked, to get Krishna, do you have anything equal to Krishna? Satyabhama said, not just one Krishna; I will give you things equal to many. Narad wanted to clear this misconception of hers. Narad said okay; then weigh all the gold, silver, diamonds, gems, jewels, etc. that you have equal to Krishna and give them to me. Krishna smiled at this. Satyabhama agreed. She ordered a big, beautiful scale. Krishna sat on one of its pans. When the weighing began, Satyabhama kept bringing and placing all the beautiful ornaments, gold, silver, gems, diamonds, and jewels, but the scales did not move. Satyabhama became anxious that Narada would take Krishna with him if Krishna could not be weighed. She brought the ornaments, gold, gems, diamonds, etc., of all other queens, but still, the scale was heavier on the side of Krishna.
The Glory Of The Holy Name Of God
Satyabhama became anxious and started crying and prayed to Narada that I cannot live without Shri Krishna; now I have nothing left to give equal to Krishna. Narada said that all the queens are here, but Rukmani is nowhere to be seen. You ask Rukmani once, she must have something that is equal to Krishna. Satyabhama ran to Rukmani and told her the whole story while crying. Then she said you are my elder sister; now, please bless me. Rukmani said, you don’t worry. He took a Tulsi leaf and wrote Krishna’s name on it. Rukmani removed all the jewellery from the weighing scale, and as soon as she placed the Tulsi leaf, Tulsi’s scale became heavier, and Krishna’s scale went up. Krishna’s name was written on Tulsi, so Tulsi’s scale became heavier, and Krishna’s scale became lighter. Narad and Rukmani smilingly say to Satyabhama, see! This is how the lord is weighed? By His name. You cannot weigh Krishna with any gold, silver, gems. Lord Krishna’s holy name is even greater than Him.
