We should be very mindful when helping anyone with money. Before giving money to someone, think deeply about its potential impact. The money you give could be used for harmful purposes like drinking alcohol, eating meat, or gambling. If someone is genuinely in need, you can provide them with food instead. You can buy them a meal from a restaurant. If someone is feeling cold, you can offer them clothes according to your ability.
The Right Way to Help Others
Before giving money, we must ensure it will be used for good and not harm. If the money you give is misused, you become a partner in that wrongdoing and attract bad karma. Therefore, verifying the recipient’s eligibility before offering money is essential. However, there’s no need to check eligibility when giving food, as everyone has the right to food. Similarly, offering clothes doesn’t require eligibility checks if someone feels cold. We should be particularly cautious when giving money. You can also distribute items like apples or samosas to people. Often, money given as alms is misused for addictions or intoxicants. We must not enable others’ bad habits with our money.
If someone meets with an accident, do not hesitate or worry about who they are. Take them to the hospital and, if necessary, assist with their treatment. In such situations, there is no need to evaluate eligibility.
How to Identify If Someone Truly Needs Help?
Do not worry about missing the opportunity to help a person who truly needs help while trying to avoid fraudsters. Trust that God will guide you to understand who is genuine and needs help. Pray to God and chant His holy name; He will give you the wisdom to recognize the right person to assist.
Pray to God to signal when someone needs help. If you help people with God as your witness, there is little chance of being deceived. The Lord will help you discern between the truthful and the deceitful.
